Since 1992 Northern Lites has been making high tech, lightweight snowshoes that allow your mind to focus on your surroundings, not what’s on your feet. At one-half the weight of other aluminum frame or plastic snowshoes, you just can’t imagine how easy snowshoeing can be, it’s a totally new sport when on Northern Lites.

In keeping with this sports simplicity, we offer only 4 sizes (7 models total), unlike some other companies that offer dozens of models requiring a computer to choose the right model. We put our efforts into lightweight technologies that allow our snowshoes to excel in a wide range of uses and users.

This allows the customer to buy one pair that can be used from racing to hiking by all members of the family. All these uses and users will share the same fundamental advantage that Northern Lites are famous for, incredible lightweight.

Why is weight such a passion at Northern Lites? There are only a few fundamental criteria for snowshoes since they were developed some 12,000 years ago- snowshoes need to provide floatation on snow and they need to do so with as little added weight as possible. There are secondary criteria such as bindings, traction, and cost, but without floatation or if they weigh too much, the snowshoe is worthless.

Maximizing floatation while minimizing weight is no easy task which is why some of the modern aluminum and plastic snowshoes actually weigh more than the wooden models they replaced! This is why Northern Lites has focused on weight ever since we started back in 1992. Technologically advanced materials combined with efficient design have yielded ultra light weight with incredible performance and durablility.

EXTREME SERIES

The Extreme Series is a technical line of snowshoes designed for the most demanding applications. Framing is spacecraft aluminum alloy 40% stronger than 6061, while decking is genuine Coolthane^TM (polyurethane coated nylon mesh) which is 250% tougher than hypalon. All Extreme Series snowshoes are shipped fully assembled with oversized mountaineering toe and heel crampons, and all are equipped with Northern Lites' highly acclaimed easy-to-use TruTrak Binding System.

Extreme Series inclues Elite, Elite Racer, Backcountry, Backcountry Rescue, and Tundra.

All Extreme Series snowshoes carry a limited lifetime warranty.

QUICKSILVER SERIES

The Quicksilver Series is a more casual line of snowshoes for less demanding applications. Framing is a 6000 series aluminum alloy, and decking is military grade polyurethane coated nylon mesh. Oversized mountaineering toe and heel crampons, and Northern Lites' highly acclaimed easy-to-use TruTrak bindings are identical to those on our Extreme Series models.

Quicksilver Series includes Quicksilver 25 and Quicksilver 30.

Quicksilver Series snowshoes carry a one-year warranty.
